A Samford-specific post

OK gang, the email just came out from Mike Grace. You can work as an on-air sideline reporter for ESPN3 and Samford Sports Network for home football and as a color analyst for the SoCon volleyball champs.

If you’re interested in sports broadcasting I shouldn’t have to tell you what a great opportunity that is. You should probably also already realize this is a rare opportunity.

So, instead, an anecdote. When I was in undergrad I did high school football and basketball on air in addition to regular air shifts. I still get tangible benefits from that. Still. And that was … wow, I just counted … a really long time ago. This fall I will still benefit from those experiences. Also, that was local broadcasting, and not on ESPN3, where your potential for “being discovered” is somewhat higher.

If you’re interested in broadcast and even a little intrigued by sports, you should sign up. We begged for this back in the day at my college. These possibilities are yours, today, for the taking. Take advantage of them.
